Our take
What does Cologne du Parfumeur smell like?
Thierry Wasser composed Cologne du Parfumeur for Guerlain in 2010, one of his first releases after joining as house perfumer. Amalfi lemon opens with other citrus and a streak of mint. Rosemary and lavender then add an aromatic touch that is more hinted than truly herbal. African orange blossom fills the heart. It is crisp and slightly green, without the honeyed side of richer orange blossom perfumes. The base comes down to a white musk that smells of clean laundry. Perfume Shrine called it pleasant but pale at launch, which is fair. Compared with the floral and mossy Eau de Guerlain of 1974, this one feels simpler and more modern. Anyone can wear it without thinking twice. Longevity is what you'd expect from a cologne, and it lasts longer on fabric than on skin.
When to wear it
A summer cologne to spray freely after a shower or first thing in the morning. It works at the office and on weekends.
It belongs to the Citrus, Aromatic family. Cologne du Parfumeur is one of 89 creations by Guerlain in our encyclopedia.
