What does Replica Jazz Club smell like?
Maison Margiela’s Replica line recreates specific memories; Jazz Club, launched in 2013 and composed by Alienor Massenet, evokes a smoky Brooklyn club. The opening is fresher than expected, with pink pepper, neroli and lemon casting a brief light. The heart sets the scene with an ambery, boozy rum, herbal and slightly musky clary sage, and a Java vetiver that adds earthy dryness. The base unfolds into a soft, almost honeyed blond tobacco, round vanilla and styrax, a resin that suggests leather and smoked wood. It doesn’t smell of cigarettes; it smells of a leather armchair, a cocktail glass and polished wood. Cosy and warm, with reasonable projection.
When to wear it
For cold evenings and dates, or simply to feel wrapped up; it suits lovers of soft tobacco and boozy notes.
