What does Super Cedar smell like?
Released by Byredo in 2016 and composed by Jérôme Epinette, Super Cedar sums up the Swedish house’s minimalism perfectly: four notes, not one more. A light, powdery, almost transparent rose opens it, softening the woody theme from the start. Cedar arrives quickly, dry and blond, without the resinous harshness it sometimes shows; it recalls pencil shavings or a pale wooden box. Vetiver and musk give the base a clean, slightly earthy, very intimate skin feel. It is a close-to-the-body scent, calm and luminous, worn like a light-grey cashmere sweater. Its restraint is the point: this is cedar with the volume turned down.
When to wear it
For everyday wear, the office or weekends, in every season except peak heat. It suits fans of soft, minimalist, genderless woods.
