Our take
What does Narciso Rouge smell like?
Narciso Rodriguez released Narciso Rouge in 2018. It followed the 2014 Narciso and the 2016 Narciso Poudrée in the same cube bottle, lacquered red this time. Bulgarian rose opens with iris. Together they smell of rice powder and crushed petals, with no fruit and no sugar. The heart stays true to the house: a dense, almost skin-like musk that runs through the whole line. The base is where things change. Tonka bean warms it and amber makes it rounder. Vetiver and cedar keep it upright. Compared with the white Narciso from 2014, Rouge is more sensual and sweeter. It is also less abstract. A lighter eau de toilette came later. This sheet covers the eau de parfum. On dry skin the iris comes forward and the scent turns more powdery. On oily skin the amber wins out. The red bottle makes the difference obvious on a shelf.
When to wear it
Save it for evenings and dates, especially in cool weather. Two sprays are enough because the musk clings to skin for hours.
It belongs to the Floral, Woody, Musky family. Narciso Rouge is one of 13 creations by Narciso Rodriguez in our encyclopedia.
