Our take
What does Le Musc et la Peau smell like?
Pierre Guillaume introduced Le Musc et la Peau, numbered 4.1, in 2016. It reworks his Musc Maori, a chocolate and hazelnut gourmand. The perfumer kept the original's milky musk base and stripped out all the sugar. Aldehydes and bergamot open on a soapy, bright note. A little rosemary adds a herbal line. The heart stays blurry on purpose. Ylang-ylang brings a round, barely sunny flower, blended into musk and ambroxan. The sandalwood, cedar and tonka base is light, like leftover warmth. The result smells like skin after a hot shower, still a little damp and warm. It's close in spirit to Escentric Molecules' Molecule 01, but warmer and more floral. It also layers very well under other perfumes, which is how the brand suggests using it. Some noses that struggle with musks will smell almost nothing.
When to wear it
An everyday skin scent, worn alone or under another perfume. Four sprays on skin and clothes.
It belongs to the Floral, Musky family. Le Musc et la Peau is one of 1 creations by Pierre Guillaume in our encyclopedia.
