Our take
What does Kouros Silver smell like?
Yves Saint Laurent released Kouros Silver in spring 2015, a year after Kouros Eau de Toilette Tonique. Michel Girard and Olivier Pescheux composed it. The model is still Kouros, created in 1981 by Pierre Bourdon and famous for its mix of soap, incense and animalic notes. Silver wipes all of that away. A crisp, slightly sweet green apple accord leads. Sage then takes over with an herbal note that smells like a Mediterranean kitchen. The base lays down woods and a light amber. It stays smooth and rather soft, with decent staying power. It's nowhere near the strength of the original, which still divides people. Compared with Kouros, Silver feels much younger and tamer. The bottle keeps the Greek column shape, here in silver. Fans of the original Kouros will likely be disappointed, as only the name carries over.
