What does Mr. Burberry Indigo smell like?
Burberry added Indigo to the Mr. Burberry line in 2018. Francis Kurkdjian composed the eau de toilette, the most daytime-friendly member of the family. The opening smells like an herb garden with rosemary, lemon and bergamot cut clean. Mint and sage come next. An aquatic note cools them down. Tea and hedione let air into the heart, like a window open on a damp morning. Violet adds a softer, almost floral touch that keeps it from feeling too sporty. The base keeps the line’s oakmoss. Iso E Super and amber lighten it, so it reads as pale wood rather than forest floor. Next to Dior’s Sauvage, the big fresh masculine of the time, Indigo is greener and less ambery. We like it for its restraint, even if that restraint costs it some longevity.
When to wear it
An office scent for spring that pairs well with a light suit. It fades fast, so four sprays on clothing will stretch it out.
