Our take
What does Emblem Intense smell like?
Emblem Intense arrived in 2014, the same year as the original Emblem, as its warmer sibling. This eau de toilette keeps the grapefruit, clary sage and cardamom of the opening. It adds a spicier coriander. In the heart, the frosted violet leaf accord is still the signature of the line. Here it is warmed by nutmeg and cinnamon. A quiet rose and a crisp apple soften things. The base clearly shifts gear. Suede, tonka bean and patchouli give a velvety texture close to a leather glove. The original Emblem is fresher and more aromatic. The Intense suits the colder months better. Longevity also improves, though it doesn't reach eau de parfum levels. For the money, it is a well-built men's scent. It also makes a good first winter scent for anyone who wants to avoid gourmands. The suede is the part that stays longest on clothes.
