Our take
What does L'Homme Sport smell like?
Lanvin released L'Homme Sport in April 2009, with Rafael Nadal in the campaign. The perfumer was never made public. The formula follows woody aromatic grammar. Bergamot, lemon and petitgrain open it. The result is crisp and slightly bitter, with the crushed-leaf feel that petitgrain brings. The heart turns to lavender and sage. You smell dry herbs and clean laundry rather than a barber's chair. The base lays down light patchouli, white musks, woods and a moss that casts a green shadow. It stays restrained from start to finish. It shares Dior's Eau Sauvage taste for citrus and moss, without the finesse. Against the aquatic-heavy sport scents of the same era, it has the advantage of actually smelling of plants. Longevity is decent for a fresh eau de toilette, around five hours on skin and longer on cotton.
When to wear it
For spring and summer, at the office or after sport. Three or four sprays on the chest.
It belongs to the Woody, Aromatic family. L'Homme Sport is one of 14 creations by Lanvin in our encyclopedia.
