Our take
What does Kenzo Homme Night smell like?
Built for after dark, Kenzo Homme Night arrived in 2014 as an eau de toilette. Dominique Ropion at IFF reworked Kenzo pour Homme into a nocturnal version. The opening stays fresh thanks to grapefruit. Coriander and cardamom already slip in some spicy warmth. The heart is the most original part. Geranium and artemisia bring an aromatic bitterness. A juicy mango pushes against it with an unexpected fruity touch. The base darkens with smoky guaiac wood, vetiver and tonka bean. The 1991 Kenzo pour Homme was an airy marine woody. Night keeps some of that lightness but turns toward a more sensual woody oriental. It is an evening scent that never shouts. It just doesn't last long enough to see the whole night through. The mango is what people remember, and rightly so. It lingers as a soft tonka trail on clothes the next morning.
