Our take
What does Parfum d'Été smell like?
Kenzo released Parfum d’Été in 1992 in a leaf-shaped bottle. Sources disagree on the perfumer, and some date the launch to 1993. The opening is strongly green. Violet leaf and galbanum smell of a freshly cut stem, almost bitter. The heart is a big spring bouquet. Peony and hyacinth lead with jasmine and lily of the valley, while rose and freesia stay in the background. It smells of sap and dew rather than sugary petals. The base arrives late and quietly with sandalwood, cedar, musk and a little amber. It stays clean and never steals the show from the flowers. Next to Flower by Kenzo, which is powdery and vanillic, Parfum d’Été is wetter and greener. This is the Kenzo for people who love gardens more than makeup. Its green edge has aged better than many floral launches of the same years.
When to wear it
Wear it by day in spring and early summer, at the office or on weekends. Two or three sprays on the wrists and neck are enough.
It belongs to the Floral, Green family. Parfum d'Été is one of 17 creations by Kenzo in our encyclopedia.
