Our take
What does Le Monde est Beau smell like?
Kenzo launched Le Monde est Beau in 1997, in a bottle designed by Serge Mansau. The name sets the mood: an upbeat fruity floral, imagined as a walk through a garden. The opening is tart. Cassie and grapefruit give a green fruit feel, and magnolia mixes with aglaia, a small yellow flower with a lemony scent. The heart opens on cherry blossom, jasmine, honeysuckle and albizia. It all stays light and a touch powdery. Late morning, grass still damp. Nothing is heavy, and nothing shouts. It's the kind of scent you put on without thinking on a sunny Saturday. In the base, cedar and a vetiver iris accord add staying power without weight. Next to Flower by Kenzo, released three years later with its powdery poppy, Le Monde est Beau seems more innocent and greener.
