Our take
What does Eau de Rochas Homme smell like?
Eau de Rochas Homme came out in 1993 as the masculine counterpart to Eau de Rochas. That one was born in 1970 as Eau de Roche before being renamed. The opening is a citrus cocktail of lemon, lime, grapefruit and mandarin. Verbena and a touch of mint add a crisp herbal side. In the heart, pine needles and artemisia bring a green aromatic note, lifted by basil and coriander. The base of ambergris and cedar, oakmoss and vetiver is dry and quiet. It smells of a pine forest after rain more than of a barbershop. Dior's Eau Sauvage comes to mind, but Eau de Rochas Homme is mintier and more resinous. It's also less floral. Like many fresh waters, it fades fast and is gone within two hours. Its low price makes that easier to forgive.
