Our take
What does Tobacco Oud Intense smell like?
Tobacco Oud Intense joined Tom Ford’s Private Blend collection in autumn 2017. It appeared first at Harrods as an amplified version of the 2013 Tobacco Oud. The brand does not name a perfumer. From the first spray tobacco fills the room. Coriander adds a spicy, slightly lemony note. Oud then takes over, smoky and a little animalic, with dark patchouli and dry cedar. The base is dense and resinous. Labdanum, amber and sandalwood cling to the skin for hours while tonka bean softens the edges. Tobacco Vanille, released ten years earlier in the same collection, is far more gourmand. Here the tobacco is dry and close to burnt. One fan of the first version complained that it only turns up the volume of the original. Several retailers now list it as discontinued.
When to wear it
A winter scent for big nights out. One spray is enough, maybe too much.
It belongs to the Oriental / Amber, Woody family. Tobacco Oud Intense is one of 33 creations by Tom Ford in our encyclopedia.
