Our take
What does Amber pour Homme Intense smell like?
Prada released Amber pour Homme Intense in spring 2011 as a limited edition, five years after the original Amber pour Homme. The box said eau de parfum intense while the brand's website called it an eau de toilette intense. No perfumer was ever publicly credited. It opens on the same bergamot as the 2006 version, though saffron and orange blossom are already pulling it somewhere warmer. Geranium in the heart keeps a trace of fougère. Myrrh and patchouli take over quickly anyway, with a touch of leather. The base is the point. Labdanum, tonka and vanilla lay down a thick amber that sandalwood and musk soften slightly. Compared with the classic Amber pour Homme, the clean soapy shaving-cream effect is almost gone. What's left is a woody oriental that reads more traditionally masculine, rougher and clearly darker.
When to wear it
An evening scent for autumn and winter that struggles in hot weather. Two sprays on the chest is plenty.
It belongs to the Oriental / Amber, Woody family. Amber pour Homme Intense is one of 23 creations by Prada in our encyclopedia.
