Our take
What does Black Opium Nuit Blanche smell like?
Yves Saint Laurent released Black Opium Nuit Blanche in 2016, two years after Black Opium. The name refers to the Paris Nuit Blanche, when museums and galleries stay open until morning. The brand has not confirmed the perfumer. The opening is a surprise, with pepper, a rice note and a streak of anise. Coffee, the signature of the line, comes next alongside orange blossom. That pairing makes the heart brighter than in the original. The base keeps the vanilla, backed by sandalwood and white musks. Rice softens everything and adds a powdery, almost milky feel. Next to Black Opium, which is sweeter and thicker, Nuit Blanche feels airy. It wears almost like an eau de toilette despite the eau de parfum label. This is the Black Opium you can wear without making the people around you queasy.
When to wear it
For autumn and winter nights out or a weekend in town. Use three or four sprays because it is lighter than the classic version.
It belongs to the Oriental / Amber family. Black Opium Nuit Blanche is one of 35 creations by Yves Saint Laurent in our encyclopedia.
