Our take
What does Asad smell like?
Asad means lion in Arabic. Lattafa launched it in 2021 and credits no perfumer. The first spray is all black pepper, very dry, resting on a hint of pineapple and a tobacco leaf that smells like a humidor. Coffee shows up quickly. It is roasted rather than sweet, backed by earthy patchouli and an iris you barely notice. The base is where it earns its keep: vanilla, labdanum and benzoin build a resinous amber that warms without getting sticky, all over dry woods. It is regularly mentioned alongside Dior's Sauvage Elixir because of that spice and amber pairing. Asad leans harder into tobacco and coffee, though. The house lists it as masculine, while some retailers sell it as unisex. Projection is loud for about two hours, then it pulls in close.
When to wear it
An autumn and winter scent for evenings and weekends. Two sprays on the chest, no more indoors.
It belongs to the Oriental / Amber, Spicy family. Asad is one of 4 creations by Lattafa in our encyclopedia.
