Our take
What does Gentleman Eau de Parfum smell like?
Givenchy spun off its 2017 Gentleman relaunch in 2018 with this eau de parfum, not to be confused with the 1974 Gentleman. Nathalie Lorson and Olivier Cresp signed it. The opening is brisk and aromatic. Pepper bites, bergamot brightens and lavender sets up a classic barbershop note. The heart bridges powder and spice. Iris lends a suede and lipstick feel, while cinnamon and clove warm it like mulled wine. The base is the highlight. Black vanilla, drawn from the pod, has a smoky and almost leathery side. Benzoin and tolu balsam coat it in resinous sweetness, with tonka and patchouli anchoring it. Next to the eau de toilette, this version is clearly darker and warmer. It lasts a long time on a scarf.
When to wear it
Autumn and winter, at the office or in the evening. Two sprays are enough, since the cinnamon gets noticed quickly.
It belongs to the Oriental / Amber, Woody family. Gentleman Eau de Parfum is one of 48 creations by Givenchy in our encyclopedia.
