Our take
What does Patchouli Homme smell like?
Reminiscence created Patchouli Homme in 2000, thirty years after the house's unisex Patchouli of 1970. The perfumer has not been named. The goal was a fresher patchouli aimed at men. It opens on citrus with Mexican lime and Italian mandarin. That part is brief but wakes the skin up. The heart moves to Egyptian geranium, peppery and rosy. Virginia cedar and Java patchouli follow, earthy and slightly camphorous. This patchouli stays clean, far from the smell of a hippie shop. The base is balsamic. Tonka bean, labdanum, tolu balsam and benzoin warm everything with a resinous softness. The original Patchouli is darker and more ambery. The Homme version is drier and neater. You can wear it to the office without bothering anyone. It makes a fine first patchouli for anyone wary of the material.
When to wear it
All year except in a heatwave, with a shirt or a light sweater. Two sprays are enough, since the patchouli lasts well.
It belongs to the Woody, Aromatic family. Patchouli Homme is one of 20 creations by Reminiscence in our encyclopedia.
