Our take
What does Aqua Allegoria Orange Soleia smell like?
Guerlain added Orange Soleia to the Aqua Allegoria line in spring 2020, alongside Granada Salvia. Thierry Wasser is credited with it. The opening smells like fresh juice. Blood orange leads with a bitter edge, bergamot brightens it and pink pepper adds a tingle. The heart relies on petitgrain and mint. Petitgrain adds the slightly bitter smell of crushed orange leaves. That pairing keeps things green and cool instead of letting them turn syrupy. The base is thin: clean musk and tonka bean that leave a faint sweet trace on skin. As often with Aqua Allegoria, it does not last long. Two hours on skin is a fair estimate, a little more on clothing. Next to Hermès Eau d'orange verte, Orange Soleia is sweeter and less bitter. It reads as orangeade rather than zest. Unisex by design, it suits anyone who wants citrus without a cologne's bitterness.
