Our take
What does Le Frenchy smell like?
Le Frenchy joined the Les Parisiens family inside Guerlain's Les Exclusifs in 2017. Thierry Wasser took on an old subject: Aimé Guerlain's Verveine, created in 1872. Jean-Paul Guerlain had already revisited it in 1983 as Eau de Verveine. The opening is unabashedly citrus. Bergamot, lemon, verbena and petitgrain crack like bitter lemonade. The heart slides toward herbs with sage and lavender, brightened by neroli. The base stays light: vetiver, tonka bean and ambergris. Tonka barely sweetens it while vetiver keeps the whole thing green and crisp. Auparfum praised a classic, careful composition but regretted weak longevity for the price. Compared with Acqua di Parma's Colonia, another classic citrus, Le Frenchy smells more herbal and softer at the base. It was later renamed Frenchy Lavande when L'Art & La Matière was overhauled.
When to wear it
A summer scent for the office, daytime and city weekends. Spray generously and keep the bottle handy, because it doesn't last long.
It belongs to the Citrus, Aromatic family. Le Frenchy is one of 89 creations by Guerlain in our encyclopedia.
