Our take
What does Nuit d'Amour smell like?
Jean-Paul Guerlain composed Nuit d'Amour in 2006 as a limited edition, first sold in a Baccarat crystal bottle. It came back around 2010 in the Les Parisiennes boutique line, this time in the classic bee bottle. The opening is lychee and pink pepper. It feels juicy with a little bite, and a trace of aldehydes adds sparkle. Rose follows, almost peachy, before violet and iris cover it in soft powder. The base is sandalwood and a fairly thick white musk. Everything stays rounded and muffled. Some will find it plush, others will find it blurry, with a heart that lacks definition. The family resemblance to Lancôme's Trésor is obvious in the first minutes. It has the same fruity powdered rose, though Nuit d'Amour is lighter and more polite. That restraint is typical of Guerlain releases from this period.
When to wear it
Wear it in the evening when the air turns cool, ideally on a sweater or scarf that will hold the powder. Two sprays are plenty since the musk spreads quietly.
It belongs to the Floral, Powdery family. Nuit d'Amour is one of 89 creations by Guerlain in our encyclopedia.
