Our take
What does Aimez-Moi smell like?
Caron launched Aimez-Moi in 1996. Dominique Ropion took inspiration from N'Aimez Que Moi, a 1916 perfume the house sold from its boutique urns. The opening is direct. Star anise, violet and mint lead, backed by cardamom and bergamot. It smells sweet and spicy with a cool edge, like an old-fashioned lozenge. The anise fades and the heart softens into magnolia, peach, rose and jasmine. Iris adds a light powder. The base is vanilla, musk, amber and sandalwood. It stays soft and lightly spiced without ever getting heavy, and it lasts well on skin. People often bring up Guerlain's Après l'Ondée because of the wistful violet. Aimez-Moi has more texture and more sweetness, and it feels less airy. It is not one of Caron's masterpieces, yet it is far easier to wear than many of the house's urn perfumes.
