What does Féerie Rubis smell like?
Van Cleef & Arpels spun its 2008 Féerie into Féerie Rubis in 2015, an eau de parfum in a red bottle. Antoine Maisondieu is the perfumer. The name tells you what to expect and the scent follows through. Red currant, raspberry and lychee open on tart red fruit. Pink pepper gives them a small sting. The heart turns floral with peony, magnolia and freesia. A powdery iris tones down the sugar and gives the bouquet some structure. The base stays soft with musk, tonka bean, cedar and sandalwood. It smells more of clean skin than of wood. There is nothing groundbreaking in the build, yet the dosing is careful. Next to Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet, another pink fruity floral, Féerie Rubis is juicier and sweeter. The iris adds a faint powder that the Dior lacks.
When to wear it
A spring daytime scent that also works for a date. Two sprays on the neck last a few hours.
