Our take
What does Un Dimanche à la Campagne smell like?
In late 2016 Guerlain unveiled Un Dimanche à la Campagne, an eau de Cologne sold in a large 250 ml bottle. The name evokes a quiet Sunday, and the house pitched it as a cocooning scent. The formula uses very few materials. Bergamot opens, bright and frank. Aromatic herbs follow with a greenness that smells like a freshly mown garden. Orange blossom then arrives to soften everything. White musk closes on a clean laundry note with no weight at all. It's a cologne in the classic sense, made to be splashed on freely. Guerlain later renamed it Herbes Troublantes and turned it into an eau de parfum within its L’Art & La Matière collection. Compared with Dior's Eau Sauvage, another citrus classic, it's more floral and far less woody. Nothing about it shouts.
When to wear it
A summer and weekend scent to spray after the shower. Like every cologne it evaporates quickly, so plan to reapply.
It belongs to the Citrus, Aromatic family. Un Dimanche à la Campagne is one of 89 creations by Guerlain in our encyclopedia.
