Our take
What does Not a Perfume Superdose smell like?
Juliette Has a Gun released Not a Perfume Superdose in 2019 as a stronger version of its best-seller Not a Perfume. The idea stays the same: a near single-ingredient formula built on Cetalox, a form of ambroxan. What changes is the dose. Nose Paris gives a concentration of 20 percent. On skin there is no classic pyramid. Ambroxan smells of clean ambergris, dry wood and a salty hint of warm skin. Some listings mention cedar and white musk, but mostly it is the molecule showing different sides of itself. Some people can barely smell it. Others find it loud. Perception varies a lot from person to person, and the product pages admit as much. Compared with Escentric Molecules' Molecule 01, which runs on Iso E Super, Superdose comes across more mineral and saltier. The concept suits people who want to smell good without smelling of perfume.
When to wear it
Year-round, from the office to dinner, on skin or on a wool sweater. Three sprays are enough even if you stop noticing it after an hour, because the people around you still can.
It belongs to the Oriental / Amber, Woody family. Not a Perfume Superdose is one of 3 creations by Juliette Has a Gun in our encyclopedia.
