Our take
What does Jasmin Rouge smell like?
Tom Ford added Jasmin Rouge to the Private Blend collection in 2011. The composition is credited to Rodrigo Flores-Roux. It showcases a jasmine sambac sepals absolute, which the brand presented as a material never used before. The opening is openly spicy. Cinnamon, ginger and cardamom cross paths with pepper and clary sage. Jasmine follows, fleshy and slightly animal. Broom and ylang-ylang make it sunnier while neroli brightens it. The base is warm and sensual. Labdanum, vanilla and amber form a resinous bed where a soft leather comes to rest. The name delivers what it promises, since everything here suggests red lipstick and a night out. Next to Black Orchid, the house’s other dark feminine, Jasmin Rouge is more floral and less earthy. On cold evenings the spices last longest, and the leather only shows up after a couple of hours.
When to wear it
An autumn and winter evening scent to wear when you dress up. One or two sprays, as it projects a lot.
It belongs to the Floral, Spicy family. Jasmin Rouge is one of 33 creations by Tom Ford in our encyclopedia.
