Our take
What does 1 Million Intense smell like?
In 2013 Paco Rabanne spun 1 Million into an intense eau de toilette. The campaign brought back Matt Gordon and Dree Hemingway, shot by Nathaniel Goldberg. The black and white film borrows from Goldfinger. The opening keeps the spirit of the original with a different accent. Blood mandarin replaces grapefruit, surrounded by cardamom, black pepper and saffron. The heart stays loyal to the cinnamon of 1 Million. It adds rose absolute and neroli for a more floral tone. The base is the real novelty: a white leather softened by orris and carried by patchouli and sandalwood. The result is darker and less syrupy than the original. It is no longer in production. Compared with 1 Million, Intense is spicier and less sweet, with a leathery base that makes it more grown up.
When to wear it
For winter nights, when the original feels too sugary. Two sprays are enough.
It belongs to the Woody, Spicy family. 1 Million Intense is one of 35 creations by Paco Rabanne in our encyclopedia.
