Our take
What does Eros Flame smell like?
In 2018 Versace gave Eros a warmer counterpart. Eros Flame is an Eau de Parfum composed by Olivier Pescheux. Where the 2012 Eros played mint against vanilla, Flame starts with citrus. Lemon and mandarin rub against chinotto, the small bitter Italian citrus that gave the soda its name. Black pepper heats it up. In the heart, rosemary and geranium keep an aromatic line, then a quiet rose and pepperwood add relief. The base is generous. Patchouli and vetiver hold the structure, cedar and sandalwood soften it, and tonka and vanilla sweeten without going overboard. You can feel the spicy oriental influence. Yet the citrus bite makes it easier to wear than you would expect from Versace, and it never turns syrupy.
When to wear it
From autumn into early spring, for evenings or dates. Three sprays at most, since the sweet base keeps growing.
It belongs to the Woody, Spicy family. Eros Flame is one of 14 creations by Versace in our encyclopedia.
