What does Guess Night smell like?
Guess launched Guess Night in autumn 2013 as a masculine woody built for evenings. The opening brings together hot pepper, grapefruit and elemi. Pepper clearly leads and the grapefruit is soon forgotten. Elemi adds a resinous touch that leans toward amber. The heart sets cedar and vetiver in place, with geranium keeping some freshness. The base pairs black vanilla with labdanum and patchouli. The result is a dry vanilla woody that is pleasant but short on personality. Compared with Dolce & Gabbana's The One Gentleman, which also plays pepper against vanilla, Guess Night is simpler and lighter. Longevity is its weak point. It turns into a skin scent quickly and rarely lasts beyond two to four hours. That is acceptable at a low price. At full price you can do better.
When to wear it
A casual night-out scent for a Saturday. Double the sprays since it goes quiet fast.
