Our take
What does Spicebomb Infrared smell like?
Viktor & Rolf launched Spicebomb Infrared in March 2021 as an eau de toilette. This flanker of Spicebomb (2012) took its cue from the red habanero chilli, built around three key accords: chilli pepper, red berry oil and tobacco. It starts fruity before it starts burning. Red berries come first, quickly caught by pink pepper and a slightly leathery saffron. The heart heats up. Red pepper and cinnamon create a dry warmth closer to a spice jar than actual fire. The base softens into blond tobacco and resinous benzoin, smelling of a cold pipe and vanilla. Against the original Spicebomb and its more classic cinnamon and tobacco pairing, Infrared is fruitier and redder. Spicebomb Extreme is still the richer one. The brand has since discontinued this version. The later Infrared eau de parfum uses a different formula.
