Our take
What does La Nuit de L'Homme Bleu Électrique smell like?
Yves Saint Laurent added Bleu Électrique to the La Nuit de L'Homme line in 2021. Dominique Ropion composed this eau de toilette intense, which the house presented as a spicier reading of the 2009 original. The bottle carries electric blue reflections. Cardamom leads the opening. It is fresh and almost lemony, and ginger gives it a kick. Bergamot brightens things without making them sour. The heart keeps the lavender that runs through the line, paired with a peppery geranium that makes it more herbal. The base is dry. Cedar and vetiver hold it, with more dryness than in the original. That changes everything. Where La Nuit de L'Homme stays velvety and a little powdery, Bleu Électrique is crisper and livelier. Rumors of a discontinuation surfaced a year after launch but were never officially confirmed.
When to wear it
A versatile scent for the office and transitional seasons that also holds up at night. Three sprays, with decent but not great longevity.
It belongs to the Fougère, Aromatic family. La Nuit de L'Homme Bleu Électrique is one of 35 creations by Yves Saint Laurent in our encyclopedia.
