Our take
What does Eau de Cèdre smell like?
Giorgio Armani launched Eau de Cèdre in August 2015, first as a Harrods exclusive in London. The green bottle sets the tone, and the brand points to Italian mountain forests. The opening is fresh and a little peppery. Calabrian bergamot and citrus mix with violet leaf, which smells of crushed foliage. The heart warms up. Cumin adds a skin note close to sweat, tempered by sage and black cardamom. This is the boldest part of the scent. The base brings the expected cedar, very dry. Black tea gives it a smoky bitterness and suede a soft texture that keeps it from turning harsh. Next to Bleu de Chanel, Eau de Cèdre is less sweet and greener. It is still an office woody, but the cumin makes it more interesting than most.
