Our take
What does Emporio Armani Elle smell like?
Emporio Armani Elle came out in 1998, when the Emporio line launched its Lui and Elle pair. Depending on the market it's also sold as Lei, She or Ella. The opening is fruity and fizzy. Pineapple, lime, mandarin and pear make a juicy cocktail. Bergamot freshens it up. The heart shifts mood. Orris root, jasmine and lily of the valley sit next to heliotrope, a flower that smells of almond and marzipan. That's what gives the perfume its powdery character. The base is warm and more oriental than floral. A soft pillow of sandalwood and tonka sits underneath, with amber, musk and vanilla. Almond ties it back to the heart. Next to Flower by Kenzo, another big powdery scent of the period, Emporio Armani Elle is fruitier and more gourmand. The opening has aged a little. The base still wears beautifully.
When to wear it
For in-between seasons, at the office or for dinner. Two sprays are enough, because the vanilla base sticks around.
It belongs to the Floral, Oriental / Amber family. Emporio Armani Elle is one of 46 creations by Giorgio Armani in our encyclopedia.
