Our take
What does Acqua di Giò pour Femme smell like?
Giorgio Armani launched Acqua di Giò pour Femme in 1995, a year before the men's version. The inspiration was Pantelleria, the island off Sicily where the designer spends his summers. Edouard Fléchier composed it. The opening mixes peony, lemon and pineapple with soft peach and a very green banana leaf. Then the heart fills with flowers: lily of the valley, hyacinth, jasmine and freesia. A marine Calone note ties them together and gives the feel of skin still wet from the sea. Ylang-ylang adds a little flesh. The base keeps musk, cedar and sandalwood in the background, with a resinous touch of styrax. It smells as much of a beach towel as of a bouquet. Softer and more floral than the men's scent, it never reached the same fame. The pineapple is the surprise, juicy without turning sugary.
When to wear it
An aquatic floral for hot days, from the morning market to lunch outdoors. Three sprays on skin and one on the hair are enough.
It belongs to the Floral, Aquatic family. Acqua di Giò pour Femme is one of 46 creations by Giorgio Armani in our encyclopedia.
