Our take
What does Ange ou Démon Le Secret Elixir smell like?
Givenchy introduced Ange ou Démon Le Secret Elixir in 2012 as a more intense version of Le Secret. The theme is still the line’s game between innocence and temptation. The opening is the freshest part. Lemon, green tea and neroli give an almost watery clarity. The tea doesn’t vanish right away and walks alongside the scent for a good while. The heart moves to white flowers. Orange blossom leads while jasmine and frangipani add a creamy, slightly sunny texture. Vanilla, cedar, patchouli and white musks make up the base. This is where the Elixir parts ways with Le Secret, since the vanilla is louder and the wood easier to feel. The result is a gourmand floral with staying power that never turns syrupy. It has more body than the sheer original Secret. It is still lighter than the first Ange ou Démon.
When to wear it
For evenings and dates from autumn to spring. Two sprays are enough, since the vanilla swells later in the day.
It belongs to the Floral family. Ange ou Démon Le Secret Elixir is one of 40 creations by Givenchy in our encyclopedia.
