Our take
What does Manifesto L'Éclat smell like?
In spring 2014 Yves Saint Laurent lightened up Manifesto, released two years earlier. Anne Flipo and Loc Dong composed this eau de toilette. It opens on brewed green tea with a touch of bergamot. Neroli and blackcurrant add a tart, almost green edge. Jasmine is still the backbone of the heart, as it was in the original. Freesia lifts it and keeps it from getting heady. Rose and orange blossom stay in the background. The base keeps the vanilla and tonka of the Manifesto family, used with a lighter hand. Sandalwood and cashmere wood give it a soft, slightly cottony texture. That green tea opening calls to mind Bvlgari's Eau Parfumée au Thé Vert, though the vanilla drydown takes L'Éclat somewhere warmer. The result is a clean, luminous floral. It doesn't try to surprise anyone, and nobody buys it for that.
When to wear it
A spring eau de toilette for the office or weekends in town. Three sprays are fine, since the tea fades fast.
It belongs to the Floral family. Manifesto L'Éclat is one of 35 creations by Yves Saint Laurent in our encyclopedia.
