Our take
What does Light Blue Sun smell like?
Dolce & Gabbana launched Light Blue Sun as a limited edition for summer 2019. The listed perfumer is Olivier Cresp, who also signed the 2001 Light Blue. The lemon and Granny Smith apple that made the original a hit show up right away. What's new is coconut water. It rounds off the opening with a milky effect that smells more like sunscreen than a cocktail. An ozonic accord keeps things airy. The heart lines up jasmine, white rose and frangipani, and the frangipani pushes the tropical beach image. The base brings a light bourbon vanilla with white musk, cedar and a hint of ambergris. Sun is softer and sunnier than Light Blue, with less bite. You lose some of the original's nervy freshness and gain comfort. Longevity is modest, like every summer edition from the house.
When to wear it
A holiday scent to spray generously after a shower or on a sarong. It fades fast, so keep the bottle in your beach bag.
It belongs to the Floral, Fruity family. Light Blue Sun is one of 26 creations by Dolce & Gabbana in our encyclopedia.
