What does Mon Guerlain Bloom of Rose smell like?
Mon Guerlain came out in 2017 with Angelina Jolie as the face. Bloom of Rose followed in 2019, again by Thierry Wasser and Delphine Jelk. The plan was to keep the lavender and vanilla backbone and bring rose into it. The opening is lighter than the original's. Citrus and lavender lead, clean and slightly herbal. Bulgarian rose quickly takes the center. It is fresh, with neroli adding light. Sambac jasmine stays behind. The base keeps the line's signature of sandalwood and Tahitian vanilla, with a white musk that softens everything. Compared with the classic Mon Guerlain, which is more vanillic and more gourmand, Bloom of Rose feels like a daytime version. You lose the sensuality of the original. You gain a rose that is easy to wear to work. Longevity is modest on dry skin.
When to wear it
A spring eau de toilette for daytime, from the office to Sunday lunch. Spray some on hair or a scarf to keep the rose going.
