What does Hugo Man Extreme smell like?
Twenty-one years after Hugo Man, Hugo Boss offered a concentrated version in 2016. Hugo Man Extreme is an eau de parfum, also sold as Hugo Extreme. Green apple opens on its own, crisper and sharper than in the original. It is the best part. The aromatic heart arrives quickly. Lavender, geranium and sage form a modern fougère accord that smells clean and slightly soapy. The base leans on balsam fir and cedar, with the smell of a resinous forest. The 1995 Hugo Man is greener and drier. Extreme adds volume and sugar. Austrian daily Der Standard found it a bit overdone, and you see why by the second spray. It remains an easy scent aimed at younger men. The bottle keeps the canteen shape of the original Hugo, which is a nice touch.
When to wear it
A versatile daytime scent from spring to autumn. Two sprays are enough and no more.
