Our take
What does Living Lalique smell like?
Living Lalique arrived in 2015 as the house's new feminine pillar. Richard Ibañez of Robertet built it around orris butter, one of the most expensive materials in perfumery. The opening is spicy. Bergamot fades fast behind black pepper and nutmeg. Then the iris arrives, grey and buttery, with the raw-carrot sweetness that belongs to this material. Tonka bean and vanilla warm it without smothering it. The base pairs vetiver with cashmeran and sandalwood. It's silky and slightly woody, and honestly quite unisex. Compared with Prada's Infusion d'Iris, which is fresher and soapier, Living Lalique is warmer and more enveloping. The drydown turns a little flat after a few hours. Longevity is decent rather than remarkable. An extrait version was also offered at a very high price. The eau de parfum is the one to try.
