Our take
What does Lalique de Lalique smell like?
Lalique de Lalique was the crystal house's first fragrance, released in 1992. Every year since, Lalique has issued it in a limited collector's bottle. The opening is openly floral. Jasmine, iris and rose arrive together, spiced by clove flower so they never go flat. Then the mood shifts. Pear served like a granita meets blackberry, and the fruit turns juicy and slightly dark. Blackcurrant leaf adds a green and almost sulphurous edge. That contrast is what makes the scent recognisable. The drydown settles on Mysore sandalwood and vanilla softened by white musk. It recalls Lancôme's Trésor in its mix of powdery flowers and fruit, though the blackberry makes it darker. It still carries the early 1990s taste for generous florals. Few launches from that decade have aged as gracefully, even if the sillage now feels big by modern standards.
When to wear it
Best in autumn and for evenings, or any occasion where the bottle deserves a spot on the table. Two sprays are enough as the trail is big.
It belongs to the Floral, Fruity family. Lalique de Lalique is one of 17 creations by Lalique in our encyclopedia.
