Our take
What does Invictus Platinum smell like?
Paco Rabanne added Invictus Platinum to the Invictus family in 2022, this time as an eau de parfum. The line started in 2013 with its trophy-shaped bottle, which comes in silver here. The opening is a surprise, especially if you know the rest of the line. Absinthe arrives first, green and slightly bitter, mixed with juicy grapefruit. The heart cools things further. Mint and lavender create an almost icy feel that recalls barbershop soap. For an eau de parfum, the base is light. Cypress adds a dry woody tone and patchouli a quiet depth. It stays firmly in sporty territory. It is much drier than the original Invictus with its sweet marine accord, and we like it better for that. The absinthe gives it an identity the other flankers lack. It brings to mind an aniseed cocktail served ice cold, and that image sticks.
