Our take
What does L.12.12 Bleu smell like?
Lacoste named its Eau de Lacoste L.12.12 line after the reference number of its polo shirt, and the Bleu version came out around 2011. The perfumer has not been disclosed. The opening is brisk. Pink grapefruit and mint are lifted by watery notes and a hint of wet fern. The heart moves to sage, herbal and a little bitter. A discreet orange blossom softens the greenery without making it floral. Cedar, patchouli and oakmoss form the base, light enough never to weigh down the sporty mood. This is locker-room freshness, clean and unpretentious. Nothing about it will surprise you. Next to L.12.12 Blanc from the same period, which is soapier, Bleu is greener and more aquatic. It lasts about five hours. Don't confuse it with the 2026 L.12.12 Bleu eau de parfum, built on yuzu and ginger.
