Our take
What does Paradiso Azzurro smell like?
In late 2015, a few months after Paradiso, Roberto Cavalli spun off a blue version called Paradiso Azzurro. Louise Turner composed the eau de parfum. The name promises the sea and the scent follows through without overdoing it. Bergamot and mandarin open on a clean, fairly sweet note. Lavender shows up early. That gives it an aromatic tone you rarely meet in a mainstream feminine release. Jasmine follows, sheer, as if seen through a wet window. In the base, cypress adds a dry resinous green. Cashmere wood, sandalwood and a light vanilla soften the whole. It smells like a beach towel dried in the sun rather than like salt water. Next to Dolce & Gabbana’s Light Blue, Paradiso Azzurro is less lemony and woodier. The lavender pulls it toward a light men’s cologne.
When to wear it
A summer daytime eau de parfum that works at the office in hot weather. It doesn’t last long, so plan to reapply mid-afternoon.
It belongs to the Floral, Woody family. Paradiso Azzurro is one of 2 creations by Roberto Cavalli in our encyclopedia.
