Our take
What does Jaïpur Bouquet smell like?
Boucheron added Jaïpur Bouquet to its Jaïpur line in summer 2019, twenty-five years after the 1994 Jaïpur. The house gave the brief to Maurice Roucel. The idea comes from India: a gifted bouquet of palace fruits and flowers. Grapefruit and citron open alongside a green, sappy mango leaf. That accord is the most original part of the perfume. Iris follows, powdery, warmed by sambac jasmine. Rose closes the heart without taking over. The base is woody and fairly dry. Cashmere wood and sandalwood lay down a creamy layer that patchouli darkens just enough. It shares its iris with La Vie est Belle, yet it is far drier and never slides into sugar. Several retailers now list it as unavailable. That is a shame for a Roucel this polished, and worth hunting down if you like iris.
When to wear it
A woody floral that works at the office and carries on into dinner. Spray it on a scarf, where the iris lasts longer than on skin.
It belongs to the Floral, Woody family. Jaïpur Bouquet is one of 18 creations by Boucheron in our encyclopedia.
