Our take
What does CK Be smell like?
Calvin Klein launched CK Be in 1996, two years after CK One. René Morgenthaler composed it, and the brand pitched it at everyone. The opening is aromatic. Lavender, mint and juniper lead, with bergamot and mandarin for brightness. It smells like laundry fresh out of the dryer. Then the heart softens. Peach, freesia and magnolia add a light roundness while jasmine and orchid stay in the background. The base is where it shines. Musk spreads out in a soft layer, held up by sandalwood and cedar. Opoponax and a little vanilla add warmth that reads like skin. CK One is more lemony and lively. Next to it, CK Be feels darker and gentler, almost like cotton. It remains one of the few unisex scents from that decade you can still find everywhere at a low price.
