What does Métallique smell like?
Tom Ford added Métallique to the Signature line in autumn 2018. The house called it its first floral aldehyde. No perfumer is credited in the sources we checked. Aldehydes open with the cold metal and soap effect that gives the scent its name. Pink pepper and bergamot make them fizzier. The heart is gentler. Hawthorn brings an almond note, lily of the valley a green freshness, and heliotrope the softness of modelling clay. The base warms everything with ambrette seed and Peru balsam, then vanilla over creamy sandalwood. Nothing is heavy, which is the surprise coming from Tom Ford. Think of it as Chanel No. 5 reworked for a woman in a hurry, with less powder and more light. Longevity is fine but no better. The name promised a colder fragrance than the one you actually get on skin.
When to wear it
An elegant office scent for spring and autumn. Two sprays on the wrists are enough, it does not project much.
