What does Noir Extrême smell like?
Launched by Tom Ford in 2015 as a richer take on Noir, Noir Extreme bets on an Indian-inspired oriental gourmand. The opening pairs mandarin, neroli and saffron for a sparkle that is both bright and faintly leathery. The heart is its signature: a kulfi accord, named after the Indian frozen dessert flavoured with cardamom and nuts, wrapped in rose absolute and jasmine. It reads as milky, spiced and almost pistachio-like, like a sweet perfumed with rosewater. The base of amber, sandalwood and vanilla lays down a creamy, woody warmth that lasts a long time. It is an elegant oriental gourmand where sweetness is always held in check by a woody frame.
