What does Noir pour Femme smell like?
Tom Ford released Noir pour Femme in 2015, three years after the men’s Noir. This eau de parfum does not aim for restraint. Ginger and bitter orange open with mandarin and bergamot. The start is sharp and bright. The heart rests on an unusual idea: kulfi, the Indian milk ice cream flavoured with cardamom and pistachio. It gives the rose and orange blossom the texture of soft-serve. Jasmine stays in the background. The base is warm. Madagascar vanilla and amber lead, backed by sandalwood and benzoin. Next to Black Orchid from the same house, Noir pour Femme is brighter and less earthy. It keeps Tom Ford’s taste for richness. The brand never pushed it hard and it has become hard to find in stores. On skin the kulfi accord is the part that lingers. Hours later it still smells faintly of cardamom milk.
When to wear it
An evening scent for winter. One or two sprays will do, since the vanilla takes up a lot of room.
